Although children’s day is celebrated on different days in different countries, the International Children’s Day was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954. This day has been observed in many countries as Children’s Day on June 1 since 1950 and is celebrated across the globe to honor children and their innocence.
Unfortunately several nations irrespective of developed or underdeveloped, are plagued with problems like child abuse, child labor and human rights violation. Hence this day plays an important role in spreading awareness regarding protection of children. Children need to be protected from working long hours in dangerous circumstances, sexual, physical and mental abuse, poverty and malnutrition; and instead allow all children access to education, healthy food and loving family.
